Rajgir Tour

SHANTI STUPA :

Rajgir Vishwa Shanti Stupa [World Peace Pagoda] was built in 1969,  by Japanese as a symbol on world peace.  It is built on top of the Ratnagiri Hills. It is one of the 6 peace pagodas in the country and 80 peace pagodas in the world. It’s built to spread the message of peace and non-violence. The structure is built completely in marble and comprises four golden statues of Lord Buddha with each representing his life periods of birth, enlightenment, preaching and death.

AERIAL ROPEWAY :

An aerial ropeway provides the link with a hill-top Vishwa Shanti Stupa [ World Peace Pagoda], and monasteries built by Japanese devotees atop the  Ratnagiri hills. The Rajgir  chair-lift aerial ropeway is said to be the oldest ropeway in the country. It was donated by famous Japanese monk Fuji Guruji.  The first person to ride on this ropeway was Loknayak Jaya Prakash Narayan!!!  Presently it is said to be the biggest revenue- generating unit of the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC).

Brahm Kund :

At the foot of Vaibhava Hill, a staircase leads up to the various temples. Separate bathing places have been organized for men and women and the water comes through spouts from Saptdhara, the seven streams, believed to find their source behind the “Saptarani Caves”, up in the hills. The hottest of the springs is the Brahmakund with a temperature of 45 degree Centigrade.

GRIDHAKUTA HILLS :

This was the place where the lord Buddha set in a motion his second wheel of law an for three months even during the rainy season, preached many inspiring sermons to his disciples. The Buddha Sangha of Japan have constructed a massive modern stupa, the Shanti Stupa (Peace Pagoda), at the top of the hill in commemoration. A bridle path leads to up to the hill but it is much more fun to take the Aerial Chair lift which operates every day except Thursday. One way ride takes 7.5 minutes and the view is splendid over the hills of Rajgir.

VENU VANA VIHARA :

Lord Buddha had become popular during his life time and had earned a good many disciples among whom some were rulers. One of such rulers was king Bimbisar of Magadha. Bimbisar, out of respect, donated a monastery to Lord Buddha which is called Venuvana Vihar.

AJATSHATRU FORT :

Built by Ajatashatru (6th century B.C.), the king of Magadha during the Buddha’s time. The 6.5 sq.meter Ajatshatru’s Stupa is also believed to have been built by him.

JAIN TEMPLE :

On hill crests around Rajgir, far in the distances one can see about 26 Jain Temples. They are difficult to approach for the untrained, but make exciting trekking for those in form.

VEERAYATAN MUSEUM :

The beautiful museum opened in 1982 in Rajgir. The museum has more than 50 diorama panels consisting of artistic handmade representations of the lives and teachings of the 24 Tirthankaras, designed by Acharya Shri Chandanaji. This is a very popular visitors’ place, having more than five million visitors to its credit. A visit to the gallery is no less than a pilgrimage.

GYMNASIUM OF JARASANDH :

Jarasandh, a mythological fighter of Mahabharat, is said to have his gym at Rajgir. Legend tells us that Bhim had defeated Jarasandh in one of their duels. Though historically it can not be proved, local belief of the fact has to be accepted.

NAULAKHA MANDIR :

Rajgir is a major tourist place for Jainism with lots of pilgrimage places in and surrounding the place. We have given our architectural services for the construction of the famous Red Temple at Rajgir. It is also famously known as Naulakha Temple and is a major tourist attraction. Every visitor to the temple is spell bounded with the great combination of the red and white colour and the sight of the temple never fades from anyone’s memory.
